Pantex S.p.A. was established in Biella in 1972. The company's name comes from the Greek "pan", meaning "all", and "tex", short for "textile". The founders chose the title Pantex to represent the diversity of textile-trading activities.

Pantex grew out of a company which had started in the early 1900s, scouring, carbonising and combing wool, as well as collecting, sorting, garnetting and reprocessing wool wastes from combing, spinning and weaving. The business moved in 1983 from Biella to its present mills in nearby Mongrando, where the company has centralised the sorting, cleaning, blending and opening of fibres.
Since 1985, Pantex has developed for markets in Italy and elsewhere in Europe a just-in-time service for the supply of open tops, tops, scoured wool and carbonised wool. Pantex S,p.A. is a member of the Associazione Nazionale del Commercio Laniero, the Italian Wool Trading Association. The company's mission, backed by years of Pan-Textile experience, is to offer the highest possible quality of products and service.
